ATLANTA (Mar 3, 2017) — Citizens and scientists will stand up for data-driven policy making April 22, with a march and rally in Atlanta due to recent concerns by science leaders who claim scientific evidence that informs critical issues, such as vaccine safety and climate change, is being rejected or ignored by the current administration.
The March for Science Atlanta, an official satellite of the March for Science in Washington, D.C., expects more than 20,000 people to march in support of policy-making based on facts, uncensored communication between scientists, and prevention of dismantling regulations that exist to protect our society and improve public health.
Many Atlanta-area associations and nonprofits will partner with the March for Science Atlanta on Earth Day. The event is in conjunction with other science marches in over 200 locations across the world. ARxC: Advocates for Responsible Care, Inc is the official partner of March for Science Atlanta, collecting donations on behalf of the march as a nonprofit fiscal sponsor. Atlanta Science Festival is another partner and many more partnerships are in development.
Volunteers interested in helping with organizational efforts on the day of the march may sign up at www.marchforscienceatlanta.org. A volunteer orientation is scheduled for Saturday, March 18, at Georgia Institute of Technology [Room L1125, Ford ES&T Building, 311 Ferst Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30332]. Members of the media are invited to attend and interview volunteers and organizers. Exact time TBD.
Representatives of the March for Science Atlanta are available for interviews with members of the media. To schedule an interview, contact Nadia Lelutiu, 678-642-6972, firstname.lastname@example.org. For additional information, visit www.marchforscienceatlanta.org.
